Need help strafing...

OK, so as usual when I can't play, I fly around the offline arenas so I don't forget how to fire the guns  . I remembered my strafing could use some work the last time I was online, and I made a couple of passes at the towns and bases. I was able to kill about half the town, and 5-6 guns when using anything with .50's. The problem is I take a hit that makes it harder to avoid the fire, and so take more hits untill I die. Is there any trick to avoiding the ack?

There is no secret really, thats why everyone wants to vulch and no one wants to deack.
.50's are a pain anyway, you have to hold em on the targeted ack for a couple seconds, so use cannon armed airplanes, it only takes one or two 20's to kill ANY ack.

Secondly, when deacking a field try and hit the acks on the outside 1st, without flying through the center of the field (this is where most of the ack is concintrated.)

Speed is a big plus, it seems the faster you go the less likly you are to be hit, and the less time you spend in range. Dont make a habit of turning 180's inside the range of ack, when you turn you give the ack a HUGE target that includes your wings and tail surfaces, so make turns outside of thier range, zig-zagging around around seems to work somtimes,(especialy against MANNED ack) but dont depend on it.

this is true unless ur in a perk plane than the AK becomes "MEGA AK" capable of shooting u at any angle, and speed factor goes out the window, the bullets are now heat seeking with such force to undo all rivets from your airplane causing it to fall apart almost immediately after the first shot.and if you are lucky enough to zoom in an catch a glimpse of these mysterious creatures "mega AK" u can see they are now made of pure gold.

If you want to avoid ack in offline mode, just go to settings and reduce the ack lethality.

This is especially helpfull if you want to practice torpedoing fleets.

Done, but rockets are good for more than ack. Usually I'm flying the ground support role when in a .50 armed plane.

to APDrone: The only reason I'm in offline is because our internet got screwed up some how. I'm on a wireless connection right now, but I get horrible warping when using a wireless connection for playing. But my point is, that if I do that, then I don't get practice in what its like in the game. I can knock out the ack untill I get my elevators shot off, and then I have to go.

And Jimmy, can you recomend some good gunsights for rockets? Its kind of a pain to estimate how far down the sight to aim.

Incorporate the Acks up in your straffing runs , that way you kill an Ack and a few buildings on your first pass, stay on the deck as low as you can fly, the Ack cant drop that low then circle back around line up the other Ack and more buildings for the second pass, once the Acks town blaze away on the buildings  

Edit... Nemisis PM me your email ill send you a great sight i use on all my planes its great for Rockets sense it has this >   /\   incorperated on the site with marks for yards also, i just renamed it Default, that way its on every plane i fly, also has deflection grid to for gunfights

The AI code for the ack is rather primitive. It doesn't care what kind of plane you are in. It simply predicts your flight path and leads accordingly. Flying fast usually also means flying straight. A recipe for getting hit. BTW, ever wonder how that wank in the zero can circle around in the ack and vulch seemingly forever? Now you know why.  (anyone telling you to just fly fast....isn't your friend...)
