Point Blank Range - bombers
« on: November 30, 2009, 11:17:30 AM »
Gents,

I had a couple PM's about the use of the B17, B24, and B26. They have to be assigned. I was not very clear in the orders. On the web page...
Quote
Special Rules:

Allies must use 9 of the 12 aircraft listed. Three of those 9 must be the B17, B24, and B-26. A minimum of 15 per each type used (chosen) by the CiC.

So yes Axis you can expect at least 90 bombers.

Wouldn't that be 135 bombers?

15X3 B-24's    45 bombers due to formations
15X3 B-17's    45
15X3 B-26's    45

That's OK, we Axis will be 100% defending. :D    More 8th Air Force pilots to be sent to Stalag 17. :devil

DD -- can you clarify it more precisely?:

Quote
Plane Set:

Allied Aircraft

P-51D
P-38L
P47D40
B-17 (min 30)
B-24 (Min 30)
B-26 (Min 30)
A20
Mosquito
Spitfire XIV
Spitfire XVI
Typhoon
Tempest (Limited to 20. Frame losses will not be replaced)

<snip>
Special Rules:

Allies must use 9 of the 12 aircraft listed. Three of those 9 must be the B17, B24, and B-26. A minimum of 15 per each type used (chosen) by the CiC.

Is it 30 min per bomber type & is that 30 individual pilots or 10 individuals upping formations?

your comment on 90 seems to indicate 30 individuals each in the B17, B24, & B26 for an allied committed force of 90 out of ~220 players.  If it is 15 min per frame type, then there would only 45 out of ~220 in bombers as a minimum.  Your post really didn't help clarify which of your web page instructions were incorrect.

I think you wanted the special rules section to say:
Quote
Allies must use 9 of the 12 aircraft listed. Three of those 9 must be the B17, B24, and B-26. Minimum number of each aircraft to be deployed by the CiC is 15 unless otherwise noted

Sorry guys.

Allies have to use the 3 bombers listed. B17, B24, B26. They also have to use at least 30 of each (10 pilots each). So in other words the drones count. Total would be 30 pilots in one of the above listed bombers.

All other AC listed would have to have at least 15 of each type used by the CiC.

Good luck getting through the escort  :neener:
There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!

The excitement fades the instant you realize you have 10 or so fighters to defend against 50 bombers and about as many escorts....
Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

Just wanted to see who would be the first to correct my intentional mistake.   Stalag 17 was a movie.   The Great Escape was loosely based on real events from Stalagluft III.

Congrats to Marshal!!! :salute
