Those with ASUS MB and FR loss and a HUGE thank you to TilDeath

After Weeks of frustration and FR jumping from 60+ to 3 then back to 60+ every minute, downloading Allot of software to minimize processes running, updating everything driver wise, and tweaking every program,and installing Vista over XP to attempt to fix the FR loss but no go, Completed erase of HD and reinstalling Vista for fresh install, still loss of FR, Complete erase of HD again and reinstalling XP, and updating everything again Bios, Drivers, software, updates 8 hours later still FR jumping from 60+ to 3 then back every minute, I was at aloss, talked to several puter guys, some suggested just bring it in and we will look at it, Heck NO  ! ! , others suggested power supply, Hmmm  running 550W now, Finally after talking to Shawk he suggested I call and speak to TilDeath, who happens to biuld PC's, okay  so I do and he walks me through the Bios settings, changed a few things, went ingame set everything and I couldnt even get off the run way in the TA due to FR.

TilDeath said something to me about my CPU and MB temp, CPU he said was okay, but MB was a little high, okay NP, he suggested i get rid of my NviDia 9800GT and get another but it being the 9800GTX Plus, look on Newegg $140.00, eww  looked at wife who was loading the AKK guns at this time and suggested this is what I would like for Christmas, end of story.

But something was bugging me about TilDeath saying something about my MB Temp, so I do a little research on the net with my MB model and would you believe it was a severe problem with overheating and someone else had a fix, "NO WAY" i tell myself.

So on I read and this guy places a fan on his MB near the top beside the CPU and where you plug in your stuff into the back, knowing I have several new fans lying around, I followed these instructions and leaving my PC on its side I start AH and OH MY GOD its  working ! ! ! , no FR loss, smoothe play, so studdering, no pauses, FR are holding steady 60+ at full res with water and land turned on.

yeah those brisbane cored athlons are hot! even the daneb cores are a little toaty my 7750 kuma was running 40-50C but my regor cored X2 240 runs 32C under load

I had heat issues with a fan less video card, so I ended up leaving the case side off. Putting a 120v fan blowing into the case straight onto the video card's passive cooler. No more issues period.

However I've never heard of a heat issue that would effect things that badly.

Would that happen to be Northbridge/Southbridge cooling or just a "random" chunk of the motherboard? In my limited experience, where you're describing is generally where the voltage smoothing capacitors are.

The problem is at the Voltage regulators of the motherboard They get to hot and there is no cooling for them and has nothing to do with your CPU or RAM

We knew that!

Bit of a jacking. I had issues with my joystick not staying calibrated. Also my fan would run full blast on the cpu. I could hear that puppy roar. Since I already knew my cable management was atrocious I purchased a new NZXT case from TD. Also I had a modular PSU which is not a good source of power. So following TD's advice as best I could I modified the NZXT case for better management of cables. I swapped out my PC Power and Cooling PSU from my everyday computer to my gaming computer and put the modular unit in the nongaming comp. I then cleaned the Heatsink and cpu and reapplied thermo grease. After that I deleted my CH controller and reinstalled it. Let Windows find the HOTAS and recalibrated.

Now the cable management looks so much better, the cpu fan doesn't run full bore all the time and calibration has stood up for about a month. It's a tough lesson learned. You cannot just put the parts in place. You have to really put some thought into any build with good products, attention to detail, and planning.
