Gigabyte EP45-UD3P Motherboard
Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3GHz Processor
change this to something that has an integrated memory controller.
i think if you buy a more recent platform with similar costs,
you'd have more choices for future upgrades at less cost.
1. phenom ii 550BE + AM3 mobo (which will allow you to upgrade processors up to 2012, 3 years- think thuban six core in 2010, and bulldozer 8-core capable 2011 w/o having to change motherboards) + DDR3
2. phenom ii 720BE + AM2+ mobo(also accepts current and future socket AM3 processors(named above), til 2012) + DDR2
LGA775 is EOL, buying that platform has no future upgrade path for it, and youll have to start over again if you want to upgrade in the future. component compatibility will save you $$$ when buying hardware.
good luck!
