We were blessed today with the traditional fly-by. At 0800 Local time (Hawaii) four F-15s from the Hawaii Air National Guard flew over Ford Island in Pearl Harbor. As they passed over the island the aircraft in the number 4 position broke off for the Missing Man formation, while the other three flew right over my school. In elementary we used to take a minute to watch the fly-by and remember those who lost their lives just miles from where we stand. Unfortunately as we moved up in grade this tradition fell to the wayside. I will be going down to the Arizona Memorial to leave a lei in the water for those who have fallen, as I do every year.

:salute to all those who gave their lives on that day, as well as those who took up the fight in their name and eventually brought victory home.

I was extremely ticked when the school board did not pause for one minute as we used to do. However, I took my own 1 minute of silence at the time oh the happening.

Sadly even the Hawaii school system, who can look out and see the exact place it all happened, does not teach much if anything at all about the incident. No one in my school could figure out why jets were flying over the harbor, or why there seemed to be ceremonies near the base...
