« on: December 08, 2009, 10:24:35 PM »
Well, since my PC died, I have decided to rebuild the stock one I am using now and give it to my siblings with the monitor and everything else. Now I am going to FINISH making my ultimate gaming machine  :D  I need a monitor, RAM, an HDD or two, and maybe even a new GPU. I have been lookin around and I found this monitor for $140 and was wondering if it was a good buy, I'd like to know you guys' opinions and thoughts, and if you have any suggestions that you think I may like better then please share!

2 ms response time
16.7 million display colors
135 MHz bandwidth

2 quick points
#1 Built-in speakers on LCD's genearlly are terrible, worse than laptop speakers for the most part.  I recommend getting a LCD w/o speakers.
#2 When it comes to monitors, I like to stick to name brands.  Viewsonic, Dell, Asus, Samsung, a few others.  Soyo, not really known for their LCD's.

Soyo went out of business in May after filing bankruptcy according to google.......... so its a buyer beware

as far as their products go..... Ive seen quite a few of them in action ........ and a friend has one of their LCD TVs......... works decent enough for the price

of course youll get what you pay for........ IMO youd be better off getting a better brand 22" in the same price range

I picked up a 23" Samsung in Oct for 199$ at Sams Club and I've been absolutely tickled pink with it.

Granted its a few dollars more, but after reading the above you can pretty much bet that there will be no guarantee or support for the Soyo.

So its your call, you have to decide if the extra $ is worth the peace of mind or not.

<-- Another vote for Samsung.  My 22 is now 2 years old and still stunning picture.  Best 189.00 I ever spent.
