I loved the short icons. I looked back and I seen a spit firing his guns with no icon.  I about augered cause I jumped so much. Was a huge suprise. I loved it though.
I like it without icons too it's way more realistic.

So you have real aerial combat experiance and we can take your word on it?

You need aerial combat experience? I just go by the images planted in my brain of different objects of various sizes that I've targeted with my sights at various ranges up to 1000 yds...at 800 yards you can see the ears of an elk with the naked eye...you can see the VW marking on the hood of a VW Beetle clearly...and you can clearly discern the difference in aircraft that are bigger than a car...granted, AH does not have the same focal system as the human eye does...but it does have zoom and that is a close approximation.

I do understand the concerns of pushing the icon range distance to less than 2k...6k is too much like the MA's though.

Been an airplane freak since I was a toddler. Spent most of my adult life in the USAF. I can usually tell you what the aircraft is from a long distance in real life. However in AHII they're all just dots at a distance even up close many times it's hard to tell what type they are. I like limited icons because you're required more SA. However no icons at all is too much for the current state of graphics in AH and adds nothing to realism. Just my two cents.  :)

Thanks  kermit. Your 190's were meat on the table. We were late off target and at 28k when I spotted your 190D flight below. I was going to wait, but you were a tempting target. I was coming down really quick and was only in icon maybe 20 sec before u were dead. The cloud layer didn't help you either as I hid before the final dive. You know a fomer 56 aint going to ever miss that shot in a p47 ;)

I like the icons the way we're used to them. Having planes disappear, basically, when icon disappears the other icons rob my visoin to them and the little black speck blends in the the other specks on the ground.

I have to say once I'm within D-300 the icon going away helped me tonight. Usually my eyes tend to lock onto the icon when trying to track an enemy against the dark background. The icon disapearing actually helped me track the enemy aircraft better. Then again I have old fart eyes.
