Subs would be cool. And yes, I remember Silent Service. One problem tho, there's a whole lot of problems. Which submarines would you add? Which type torpedo and guidance mechanism? Would they allow for rogue torps? (When the guidance failed and the torp did a circle back to where it came from) What about the dangers to a sub? Crush depths, sonar, audiophones on the sub-hunters, AIR SUPPLY (no reference to the band), fuel and battery. You would have to completely remodel the water so it isn't a blue parking lot. Now you have sea affects to worry about. High seas would obstruct views thru the periscope, which it should, but from the computers end, how much more proccessing power would it take when you're flying and the computer's busy trying to figure out where each wave went? You would have to build a whole new game essentially, (Aces Deep) Then figure out how to combine the 2 without sapping all the power from the computer.

That's just it though, (don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled about the idea of subs, if anything just so I can hunt them) it's not just what subs. Subs were like planes in WWII. Major innovations were made from beginning of the war to the end. But there were alot of other issues that subs had to deal with that planes didn't. When you drop a bomb, you don't have to worry about the bomb turning round and coming back at you. You did with subs. I don't think anyone is arguing that they don't want subs, more like how would you implement them.

They always seem to home in on me .

1. Torps would operate just as they do now for PT boats and air delivery.
2. When discussed previously on other threads, it was widely believed that a water remodel is a high priority need anyway.
3. As was stated earlier, submarine warfare was in a high-curve evolutionary state during the war. The same could be said for the level of detail for this concept. (Air supply, water pressure, counter-measures etc.)
4. Licensing agreement or consultation with the designers of one of the other, older submarine games is a shortcut I have already touched upon in an earlier post. Coding might not be easily compatible or convertable but the design notes and various details and ideas would be helpful.
