Maybe if you used a rotor head on the pods, and mixed the fore/aft articulations? I did something similar with a concept for a scale V-22 I am working on designing.. and it works quite well. I did have to use gyros on all 3 axis to allow transition to and from forward flight without loosing control.. but it works.
Basically as I swivel into forward flight, my mix brings in aileron, rudder and elevator, maximizes rotor pitch, and mixes out cyclic and collective. the reverse happens as I rotate the pods to vertical, the mix brings out the standard cntrl surfaces, and adds in cyclic, and collective.....
Definitely requires a high-end computer radio to function though.. wouldn't even want to consider it on a basic sport radio...
