La5 Fuel consumption

I have tried every trick I know but I have a combat radius of only about 50 miles in the La5 with 100% fuel.  And at that range I have only enough gas to make two high speed passes on an enemy plane before I have to throttle back and try to make it home.
Essentially My max combat radius, in the La5, is to the next adjacent base.  And that is cruising over at under 15k alt at 60% throttle and planning only 2 or 3 minutes of fullpower air combat manuever.

Am I missing something?   I have seen others write about setting fuel management to auto or manual.  But they were talking about adding an external fuel tank.  I do not have one of those available for the La5.  Nor can I find a setting for it to manage fuel in anyway.

You won't have your combat radius more than 75 miles with the current fuel multiplier.. She wasn't a flying tanker as the P-51 was.. :-)
So, save your fuel and don't fly higher than 4.5k..

Bear in mind that pitch settings haven't been put in place yet for fuel consumption.

Later you will be able to select a coarser pitch for better fuel economy and you should be able to extend your range.
