warphoenix, Did you know the carrier in Aces High is based off of the Essex Class carriers which were the last class of carriers to be commissioned by the US before the end of the war? Don't mean to sound abrasive lol, but we're all wondering where you get your stats and ideas from. It's hard to say whether or not HT will simply increase the size of the Task Forces

Warphoenix,

It's EnterpriSe... not Enterprize...

And it's Essex... not Exsess.

Many of us here are veterans... and some of US are Navy vets... so we tend to take a little offense to folks misspelling the names of some of the greatest ships that have ever sailed.

All that aside ye landlubber, yes... the Essex class was the "super carrier" of the WW2 era.  And yes... the carrier we have in the game now is an Essex class.  So as everyone is telling you, we HAVE the biggest, and best American CV class that was built during the war in the game already.

But the true super carriers as we view them today did not appear until USS Forrestal and her sisters, Saratoga, Ranger, and Independence were built.  None of which had keels laid, or were commissioned until the mid to late 1950's.

Some may wish to argue that Midway and Coral Sea were super carriers, but only after they were upgraded in my opinion.  Fine ships nonetheless.

How is a giant jap cv doing anything for supper?

First of all...the Japanese carriers were not super uber gigantonormous behemoths of the seas...do you do any research on this stuff before you post?

The IJN had supper carriers?  You would think the Japanese carrier's galley would be able to provide enough food to feed their crew without needing a dedicated 'supper carrier'.

Giant Jap CV was the Shinano sunk by the Archerfish in the Sea of Japan during sea trials - it was a carrier laid atop the third battleship keel of the Yamato class- excellent book on the subject "Shinano" The sinking of Japans secret supership.

"THE SINKING OF A SUPERCARRIER"
On November 29, 1944, the ImperialJapanese aircraft carrier Shinano was steaming along eight hours into her maiden voyage. Off Shinano's bow, the destroyer Isokaze raced about erratically. The destroyers Yukikaze and Hamakaze duplicated Isokaze's unpredictable movements off both beams of the carrier. Overhead the moon was beginning to drop but visibility remained excellent. Optimism was mounting that Shinano would pass safely through the Pacific waters believed to be swarming with Yankee submarines.

Which brings us to the obvious question; how much supper could Essex Class carriers hold?

Essex class carried 90-100 aircraft (some more, some less)

Most Japanese CV's carried LESS planes than that.  The Shinano was designed to carry more (about 130 or so), but never did.

So WarP's math is a tad off...
