Palm Sunday Massacre

OK here is my "big" mission I have been working on. This is supposed to be a recreation of what was known as the Palm Sunday Massacre in Tunisia off the coast of Cape Bon. First, the game does not provide Ju-52's so I used unarmed Ju-88's. Second, The enemy escorts fighters, once engaged in dog fights, will not carry the fight along with the "transports" to protect them. If anyone knows how to make that happen if it is an option available then please share. Also does anyone know why the dogfights end up below 1k and stay there?  Anyway, you will need to have the Tunisia map for this mission. Also if your offline home country is Bishops, you will need to go to your arena settings and reset the map until the airfield in Sousse belongs to your country, otherwise you get shot up for being at an enemy base to take off. I think I have everything timed correct and there does not seem to be any ghosting (knocks on wood) but if you good pilots would test it for yourselves, I do appreciate any and all sincere and constructive input. Thanks and enjoy!

EDIT: I think this is just because the map is very.....unusual on my end, but all Allied flights smash into the ground and are dstroyed, or sustain engine damage, rendering the flight un-playable, as for the axis, all the flights spiral slowly to the ground under where they all spawned. I am not sure why this is....

:headscratch: Hmmm. I ran it again today because I still have a problem with the Ju88 showing up after all flights of fighters on both sides have engaged. I know I didn't pay much attention to the axis side of the flights for those that like to fly on that side, so I am working on tweaking that out. I am also working on getting every flight to show up in one massive formation. What happens now is all of the fighters show up first, and then after things turn into a furball the transports arrive. As for what you are experiencing I have no idea baron.

Just played it.  All your Allied flights are hitting the water as soon as they spawn.  If you were going for an air spawn, you didn't set the elevation.  Axis side, all flights spawn off the map and continue on a course that take them even further off the map.  Could you post the .mis so I can look at it please?

here you go Ranger. I don't understand what it going on because every time I run this mission it plays just fine. I even played as tha Axis and aside from having to start your engine and throttle up quickly it plays out ok, I have not experienced any aircraft or flights dumping into the ocean or flying off the map. I get a few "birds" I call them while flying enroute. I call them birds because they are little dots that whizz passed the canopy as thought they are not far away like a bird flying by.

Hmm, I opened up the .mis file on both mine & my wife's PCs.  On both it is showing that your mission takes place way off the right side of the terrain, past where the clipboard map even shows.  I'll post a pic of it later when I get home.

AHHHHHHHH-Haaaaaaaa!! I sees the problem Ranger (I think). That Tunisia map is way different than the one I used to make it and play it on. I will up load the tunisia map that I have and see if that works better you. That is not how it is supposed to look. Try using this map:

http://www.esnips.com/doc/d6fe31a1-af5e-4377-ad73-ed8ff1c85f28/tunisia

If this works better let me know and I will put a zip file together with the mission and this map included. I did not make this map, it is one that was included in another Tunisia mission made by someone else.

Here's a new zip file for this mission including the Tunisia map that I used to create the mission with. I hope this one works out better for everyone that uses it. Thanks.

Crap! I forgot to put a readme text in the zip file. Because of how the map is made (I didn't make it) you have to do a country reset in the arena options until the airfield at Sousse belongs to your side (bishop, rook, or knight) should be bishop. Sorry about that, but there was no other way I could make the mission in the accurate location with this map. I know it is a bit of a inconvinience but like I said, I can not edit the map to make the correct airbase default under friendly control.  This new link is to the new zip with included instructions. http://www.esnips.com/doc/4e02d045-63f4-4308-be8b-aa8ab54b7234/PalmSundayMassacre
