Have any of you ground lovers played WWII online? The focus there is ground pounder warfare...infantry, tanks, trucks, artillery, etc...take a plane up and you will be sorely disappointed by the flight model. No one likes to fly the planes in that game since they stink...and noone complains (at least not to the extent that people do here) about the lack of airplanes because people play that game for the ground war. In AH there is a ground war element that does play a part in the overal scheme of things...combined air/ground warfare...however, the main focus is aerial combat and what LCCajun is responding to is the sudden posting activity for things that have nothing to do with the aerial combat or the ground vehicle element?

Seriously, is common sense lacking that much that ships, submarines, towable artillery and other things that are more suited to games like WWII online become the focus of people's attention in Aces High when there are better items that could be added to contribute more to the overall experience of a game that is obviously geared toward aerial combat? Why not just ask HiTech and company to go all out and change the game so it's more like WWII online so we can have infantry, towable artillery, unarmed vehicles, mortars, battleships and submarines?

That way you can attract more customers, increasing profits and your ability to suppport this product through increased funding.   :salute. In spite of your insulting and elitist attitude, you were right gyrene I do feel better for asking! Thanks buddy!  :aok. :neener:

Guess I am talking to a wall also, I didn't say for them not to be able to use the guns, I am just trying to see why ppl perfer not to dogfight in an air combat game.

What your asking for is for people to play your way....

They pay for their use of HTC game just like anyone else, let them decide which features they wish to use.

Everyone is a marketing expert...if I had a nickel for every marketing expert who posted his expertise just on these forums...I'd be able to retire...

So let me get this straight...what you're saying is that if HTC were to make AH more like WWII Online more people would pay to play? I'm amazed, here I was under the obviously mistaken impression that people looking for a WWII air combat simulation came to AH for the planes. Maybe if submarines were added before the last upgrade...people wouldn't have quit just because their computers couldn't handle the improved graphics...or maybe they would have been more willing to get new computers just for the submarines. Diversity is great, as long as it fits...

Well, obviously I am not HiTech or in any way associated with their company . . . but if I were, I would be quite pissed to see someone tell any part of my customer base they should go play somewhere else.

If you don't like <insert aspect here> of the game, don't utilize it.  Let those who do enjoy it continue to do so in peace.

I guess I am the only one who actually likes a dogfight, and not be lame and sit in a gun instead of upping to fight. Just to be clear I will let somebody up and not vulch them, so that I could have a dogfight. If ppl are vulching by all means get in a gun and stop them. Guess ya'll missed that part in my first post.
As one of those Lame individuals who take great joy in manning a soft gun on a base & knocking individuals out of the sky. All I can tell you is stay more than 6K away & then it's a non issue.

That door swings both ways bud...all the "this game needs <submarines, towable artillery, more infantry, unarmed trucks, controllable ships>..." people are telling the majority of the people in AH who have and do enjoy the existing lineup that if they don't want the stuff that doesn't enhance any part of what exists now that they should go somewhere else...do you honestly believe that if HTC took the time to remodel the water to a 3d scape for submarines, then modeled controllable subs and ships that there would be time to fill in the missing planes and gv's that people have been wishing about for years? That sir, in marketing terms would be cutting off the nose to spite the face.

 :aok :aok :aok

The only thing I kill in soft guns are vulchers, bombers flying under 15k, and gv's that are trying to roll onto a base.

Those things are just as lame as a soft gun (and none of those things are completely lame)

Ohhh so who is the "marketing expert" now? Better add another nickel to your retirement fund. It must be tough to be the designated spokesman for "the majority".... this is a wish list and I wish objections would be based on legitimate concerns not just complaints because people actually have ideas. (Curse you youngsters and your new fangled ideas  :old:)   :headscratch:

I've not seen anyone say that we shouldn't add more airplanes, too.  You, however, have been saying we shouldn't add anything that isn't an airplane.  And telling people to take their business elsewhere to boot.  So, no, the door isn't swinging both ways.

Get rid of puffy and auto ack.

Force carrier attacks to be epic while promoting dogfights around the carrier.

People will be flying cap around the cv and huge furballs will insue.

Carriers will then be forced out to sea to keep them from getting slaughtered.

It will make the cv combat epic and more fun.

But double the amount of mannable and unmannable 40mm's to balance it out.

or...

We could make the puffy ack much less effective against fighters and much more effective against bombers.  :D

Are a couple of my 5" shells the reason for this post?  :D  I thought that battle was epic tonight, I was having a blast in that ship gun.  We weren't really mounting an offensive so it was just a matter of time before you got to us but I had a lot of fun swinging that gun around.

Seems to me the answer is that if you dont want to risk being shot down by a manned gun... dont fly over them.  If what the OP wants to do is dogfight, and not have to worry about manned guns, there is plenty of airspace NOT over an enemy field to do it in.

No, Not youre shells but the auto puffy ack.

You are a sniper in that damn 5 incher though.

I had to use nemisis as a low alt meat shield in order to drop my eggs on the cv and even then you still took the tail off of my 38.

I wanted to pull an offensive out of you guys.

There was 3 planes up and almost all of them i had to bait towards land.

Guess a low and slow A-20 isnt a tasty enough target. :D
