I know what your implying here because you had 2 threads shut down because of it.  The reason this might happen is because your shooting the tank at it's strongest point, and he hits you at your weakest point.  The effect a tank round has on another tank all depends on where you hit it & the distance the round traveled, you don't get the same amount of damage no matter where your round hits the tank.

As for those complaining about people towering when the whistle of the bomb is heard it's a legitimate tactic in the game, like others have mentioned, if you were on the runway and saw a plane coming in to vultch are you gonna just sit there and let him kill you?

And why are you bombing a gv when the hangers are still up to begin with, to get an easy kill?  If you kill him all he's gonna do is up again.  If your using the argument that this tactic wasn't possible in WW2, well in WW2 I doubt the guys bombing would have killed GV's right next to a hanger full of them, wouldn't they take the hangers out first?

WRONG! nice try....  :bolt:

I should have been more specific.... WRONG! nice try. We're not talking about random sloppy shots. We're talking about specifics...close range....point blank...etc., etc., etc...   :x

Been playing AH & AH2 off and on since at least 2004 and the gameplay has stayed the same. GV's "towering out" make up for the lack of overhead cover and other obstacles which would normally protect them from the prying eyes of an A-20 at 10,000 ft  There is also the issue of bombers having the "cheat" of knowing the exact layout of every base in the game and knowing where GVs will spawn in.

If they are towering out when you drop on them, maybe you should try different bombing tactics.  The carpet bomb attack in Lancasters at 1K over a GV base is pretty old and used often.  Try doing some high altitude bombing or diving in from the sun from 15,000+ ft. Less chance of seeing them tower out as there is a better chance of them not seeing you.

ju88's diving would be interesting.....'specially since they dive bombed in rl. funny, we see guys do this in lancs, and 17's, but never in a bomber that actually did it. and 88's carry more ords than a 17.....or is it the same?

1K too high. I've been doing the 40-50ft off the deck, pull up at the last minute, salvo 6-12, delay .25. They usually don't see me untill they don't have time to tower.
