Long island snowstorm.
« on: December 19, 2009, 08:20:11 PM »
It's a blizzard in New York, And not upstate either.

The worst of it is yet to come.

Anyone else in the northeast enjoying the weather?

It is coming down super hard, I live in Centereach, Long island. Probably the heaviest snow I have seen in 6-7 years here.

I'm about 3 or 4 miles east-northeast of you. Agree, very heavy snow with high winds. As wicked as I've seen it.....

Centereach officially has 24.4" of snow. Selden has 26.1" and Terryville (where I live) has 25.5". (that's between 61 and 66 centimeters for those in SE Britain horrified at 10 cm). It's still snowing too.

Drifts between the cars are almost rooftop height. My jeep is down near the bottom of the driveway (steep hill, double-wide, 50 feet long). We have talked for years about buying a snow blower... Never did. So, it's shovel time. At least, I've got all day to get it done.

We got about 5 inches here in putnam county.  It's about time you islanders get a taste of some real snow.

Actually, we get storms like this just about every year. Just not this early in the season. Several years ago, a storm dumped 31 inches here. :O

I know wide just breaking them a little bit.   We rarely get a miss like this one.  So I want to rub it in a bit.  I'm only a 2 hours from you but it can be a world apart in the winter and even summer.
