Space Trek The New Empire
« on: December 21, 2009, 10:48:40 PM »
I found this broswer game last week.  For die hard Star Trek fans, this will be right up your alley.  For everyone else, maybe not.  One thing about this game is that without a doubt, it's very corny and simple.  Maybe, a little idiotic but it's fun after a bit.

The game is a colonization game.  You start out with a planet and a colony ship.  The colony ship has the initial basics to get your colony founded and going.  There are 8 levels to the game.  At level 6, the game becomes interactive with other players.  Until then, you play just by yourself which is necessary before reaching that level.

Do the tutorial at the beginning and it will get you to level 4.  Once there, you're on your own.  Get to level 5 quickly to build up your resources.  You'll need a large quantity of resources before embarking towards level 6.  Level 6 will allow you to colonize other planets and asteroid belts.  Level 6 allows you to attack other players at level 6 and higher.  This also means they can attack you.

A good idea is to stay at Level 5 and spin your wheels for a long time.

There are 5 rounds a day they call ticks.  A round is the advancement of gameplay in regards to factories comsumption and production.  It's all done at the same time.  You can move your ships freely as you wish inbetween rounds(ticks) to gather more resources.  The main thing about staying at Level 5 and lower is that with each tick, you'll receive 2 extra ticks also.  Each day at Level 5 and less means you'll have 15 ticks a day to produce material and energy.

At certain times the game will prompt you to request an additional ship.  2 types will be available to you.  An ore frighter and a gas tanker.  You'll be able to request 2 of each and you'll need them for Level 5 production.

At level 6 -8, you'll be able to construct more ship including warships to make a war fleet for attack and defend.

It's kinda rinky-dinky but kinda fun for something different.
