This the right R/C plane for me?

I was looking around for a new R/C plane that was better than the trainer i have right now( the wildhawk) and found the Freewing F6F ARF, was a love at first sight and i asked my parents for it right away. I would adivse against it.  I have flown RC for 25 years, and been an instructor for about 15.  Get a TRAINER. something along the lines of one of these

Also, if in the US, you should join the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA)

Once you join, you should do a search on the AMA web site, and find a club local to you.  Most clubs offer free training, which is definitely needed to fly safely.  RC flying is much harder than it looks.

Dunno if I just got lucky, but my first one (Cessna 172 ARF from Hobby Lobby) jumped right off the ground and flew like a dream with some trim work without an instructor.  I suppose it was just dumb luck.  I had that one for a year until I sold it to a friend.  No crashes, just careful flight in an open area.  I never flew it when wind was more than a light breeze though.  It's probably so stable that it'd be almost hard to crash without doing something REALLY stupid though.  I did get some practice at Hobby Haven with their little simulator, but the sim was actually tougher to fly than the real thing.  

I'd like another fixed-wing, but I got into the electric Heli's.  They're great to fly around in the house, and WAY cheaper for parts.  Main inner shaft for a Blade CX-2 is like 5-6 bucks.

Depends on your heli.  Parts for my Raptor 90 are quite a bit more than that heheh, but that is true of all RC.. some can be cheap, some expensive.  I have a plane that cost me all of 150 bucks ready to fly (minus controller)... all the way to a twin turbine F/A-18 that I have over 10 grand in.... (got about 20 planes, 5 helis)


Same with helis... have a 99 dollar mCX i fly around inside.. up to a raptor 90 which ran into the thousands easily.

I worked with my wildhawk since August and never got it off the ground for more than 5 secs, 2 weeks ago an overnight change saved the plane from the trash can, now i can keep it in the air for minutes at a time!!!! :airplane: :joystick:

I have been flying since I was 20, Im 42 now.  The biggest mistake a beginner makes is doing what you thinking of doing. Get a Trainer that has dihedral in the wings and talk to a flight instructor at your local flying field. If your intrested in gliders get a Poly-dihedral 2m bird.

I fly in confined spaces and i have no trainers just my grandfather who suggested the wild hawk as the best trainer for the cheapest price, however he did not recommend the Hellcat, I went ahead and told my parents i wanted it and its in their bedroom closet just waiting for me to open it on Christmas(also says from Santa so go figure lol). Nothing i can do at this point except save up money for a new trainer and hope the hellcat doesn't break.
