Windows 7 optimizing and other questions

I was messing around with turning some services off to try and free up some resources and found out that if I turn off "themes" for some reason AH boots right up! Just for giggles I tried turning off other services but leaving "themes" on, and no dice (refer to my other post "New laptop wont run AH") ... AH only boots up with "themes" turned off. weird?? Anyone have an explanation for this one? Also.. does anyone know a good way to optimize windows 7. Right now the computer is eating up about 897mb of resources, but I remember vista was using about 500mb of ram to run. I've got 3Gb of ram, but I'm running a laptop so having 1/3 of my ram taken up is kind of a big deal to me. Windows 7 is suppose to be more efficent right? I'm sure there is something that I don't understand... HELP!!!!

for starters, I recommend you do some thorough reading up on what's what regarding services & processes on your PC, and also do some indepth research.......

with this post, PLEASE NOTE * ATTEMPT AT YOUR OWN RISK *  with turning off & turning on services &/or Processes
