I appreciate everyones input, both the positive and negative. But... the original question at hand was..."which card?" I have been playing AH fine for the last 5 years with this set-up.
I'm afraid upgrading that box for gaming use is literally throwing money away. It can never run games properly.
I have an old Nvidia GeForce MX4000 128MB PCI vid card, 512MB DDR RAM and a 2.66Ghz Intel Celeron processor running Win XP Pro SP3. Now granted my FR's vary from 30-60 FPS but usually hold steady around 50FPS with all available options turned on high including detailed water. No stutters, no BSD no real big problems or issues at all. My intent is to upgrade what I can and stay below $200. I am upgrading my RAM to a Gig or Gig and a half, I plan on upgrading my PSU to a 700w and plan to upgrade my old vid card to probly a 8400GS. These three things will be a huge improvement over what I now have and will cost about $200 to do.
You'd be better off savin your pennies for a few months and getting a whole new system.
I just recently found work again after 10 mo of being laid off. Hard to save enough money for a NEW system on $10 an hour and still pay the bills. So, I will spend my $200 and enjoy the few gains I will get from it until I get enough money to build a better system. I hope that the negative replies to this post will be proven wrong.
Thanks again Mash for your positive replies, will just have to see what I can do to this machine. To everyone else Thank you as well for the help.
