the Wii is a toy, not a gaming console. not enough power.
So, does that mean that the NES is a toy? The Playstation was never a gaming console? The Wii may not have a lot of power, but that means that the focus is less on fancy graphics, and more so on the utilization of the two sticks that you swing at the screen. Oh wait, there are only a few games that do that well...nevermind.
Wii is fun, but there are plenty of under-developed games for the Wii, especially the "family-fun" games.
PS3 is fun as well, and the controller is very easy to get used to if you are making the jump from a PS2.
Xbox 360, I have next to no experience with, besides getting pwned in Battlefield: Bad Company when I had the controller in my hands for five seconds.
Go with a Nintendo DS and a PSP, solid gaming platforms they are. Disgaea for the PSP, with Metroid Prime Hunters, Professor Layton, Custom Robo Arena, Sonic Rush, and The World Ends With You (A Square Enix game that ISN'T Final Fantasy! Imagine that!) for DS. Besides, with handhelds, you get to avoid the console war. Same for PCs.
