MG 34 ROF

I timed one minute and watched the ammo counter, only 505 rounds.

I know the light and medium versions of the MG34 had higher rate of fire, and the heavy version was around 700 rounds per minute, correct?

Various machine guns that fired the 7.92x57mm round:

MG 15: 1,000 rpm
MG 17: 1,100 rpm
MG 81: 1,200-1,500 rpm
MG 34: 900 rpm
MG 42: 1,200-1,400 rpm


AFAIK the MG 34 was only built in one version.

 ROF for cowl mounted MG's is contingent on the propellor rpm no? Did you take that into account? I know the free standing German MG';s had the highest rate of fire of anyone. But out them behind a prop on an airplane and I'm not sure ROF was even a factor anymore.

Only place you will find an MG 34 in the game is on the Panzer and Ostwind. The version used on panzers is specific for vehicles and has a heavier jacket then the ground mount one. I dont know if its rof is different though.

I only checked the cupola mount MG34, I'll check the coaxel and hull guns this evening.
I don't have any specifics on the AAMG 34 used on the later panzers (due to nearly all having MG42 AAMG's by '44)

The infantry and mediums are lighter versions for transportation reasons(and like scatter guns after about 5 rounds) while the vehicle is a slightly heavier version that resists recoil a little better.

I believe the vehicle versions also had cycle rate reduced to increase barrel life because of the time needed to switch barrels (as in a combat situation) but no way it would of been reduced by over half.

While checking out H&D2 I stumbled over this info on the MG-34. Dunno if it is true:

"Rate of fire could be toggled between 600 or 1000 rounds per minute by a switch on the pistol grip."

Umm Westy......MG 34 is not an aircraft mounted weapon. The 7.92mm MG's are MG17's

Flexible mount MG 17? MG 15 was the flexible gun - MG 17 was only used in fixed installations.

Btw: If you want a high ROF you can't go past the Ultra ShKAS: 2700rpm!
