I cannot hear any chat and verified by number of players that my vox / mic is working.  I had to do a re install on my computer.  These are my DxDiag sound devices results:

first thing is to check and see if your system works in windows. Bring up the sound recorder in windows (start, program, accessories, sound recorder) and try that.

Tried Sound Recorder and you are right no sound there.  What is the suggested route from there?  :headscratch:

I had this issue when I first switched to Vista.   It took me a bit to get it squared away.   Make sure you have the latest Drivers (if you have Vista, I initially used older drivers).    I also had to run TeamSpeak as an "Admin" and "use PTT" instead of "Voice Activated".

right clicking on your volume control displays an option to check "properties". Open that and you should be able to adjust the sliders for both inputs, and output. make sure those are on/up. Check your mic and headset on another system if you can. Drivers are a good place to look as well. Giving Skuzzy a call might help too, but don't tell him I told you to call.  :D

Thanks again this is all helpful.  I am trying to look for drivers but with it being an old system and on board sound, I keep coming up with the same nforce 442 drivers.  I am thinking this is where the problem exists, for two reasons:  1)  never had any problems with AH until I tried to update drivers.  2) The GART that comes with the 442 drivers for nForce totally fubared my graphics so I uninstalled it and graphics run great.

My initial next step is to unplug my mic and headset, and re seat them after a computer restart.....  maybe the dang thing will cooperate on its own....  I tell you there is a gremlin  :t somewhere testing my patience.

You're running XP right? I found an Nforce audio driver v4.62 on Nvidia's website...but it won't work on this mobo: Chaintech 7NJS.
Are you using a USB mic?

Thanks I will check it out.  The mic is not usb though and mobo is Asus (have had issues with finding drivers since it is OEM Sony VIAO and ancient).

I did get the Sound Recorder to work today with the help of NvMixer.

And yes I am running XP sp2

I have an ASUS P5K-E and it uses SoundMAX drivers.   I also refrain from USB headsets/mics.

   Thanks All!!!!

Good News!!!   :x  I found out that my firewall had to be configured to allow UDP from the HTC servers (probably not saying it right).  Anyhow, my chat works fine now so get ready to hold your ears, and I will have to hold mine  :neener: when squeakfest begins.

I want to thank all those who really helped and offered to walk me through to a resolution.  And also, thanks to old sticky post from Skuzzy I was able to include the proper IP addresses in my allow list on my firewall.

I owe you all
