Squadron Alliances
« on: January 04, 2010, 12:07:25 PM »
Squadron Alliance - where one or more HTC squadrons have formed a friendly or strategic alliance with another squadron in the same country (Bishop, Knight, or Rook).

Features:
- When you select a special highlight option, your existing squad players and the alliance members are all highlighted on the clipboard the same way it highlights squadron members.
- The squadron channel also includes the alliance OR have a seperate channel for alliance members
- only the squadron CO (the one who created the squad on-line) can add or remove alliances with other squadrons
- when the squadron CO logs online and an alliance request has been sent, it appears for them to accept or decline.
- ability to speak to alliance members on channel
- alliance creator can upload a logo and the ability to name the alliance.  This would be optional for joining squadron CO's who accept or decline.
- alliance options are controlled in the squadron menu.  They include:
  * use Alliance logo (replaces existing squadron logo with alliance)
  * use Alliance name (replaces squad name with arena msgs... ie. Fork landed 2 kills of The Gunfighters vs Fork landed 2 kills of 8th Air Group Alliance)
- scoring: (bonus option) alliance scores are tallied together monthly similar to that of squadrons.

Why?
- it would foster a stronger sense of community online for individual countries and for better gameplay
- it would allow larger squadrons groups to form a single online entity presence (some squads are pretty big and the current game system isn't able to allow those numbers)
- it would allow better communication between the allied squadrons for missions and coordination of online efforts.

Thoughts?

for better gameplay

It would be a tool to create even bigger mega hordes, which is absolutely detrimental to overall MA gameplay.
And remember the squadron size limit was set by HTC not for technical, but for gameplay reasons.

Lest we forget....................

Squads are friendly with one another and assist/help/work together all the time now..... This problem must be a Rook/Knight thing.

Come fly Bishop and see what a family is like.

lol, really? When I'm on once in a while WoT will do a buff run like we did a few nights ago...ended up helping the SK's finish off a field, they had a mission into it with lancs...wasn't planned, just happened and happened well.

EVERY country does the same stuff. EVERY country.

If several of our stragglers want to run joint ops with a few stragglers from another squad, we all join up on a 1XX channel . . . at which time we are all highlighted as if in one big happy squad.  So I am not sure what the request is trying to accomplish that can't already be done?

There is also private text between COs, range vox channel, and room text channel.

Logan is right, aside from a few players who seem to want to fly alone (or the oposite, who expect someone to keep an eye on them at all times and 'give check 6' calls at need), the bish are pretty close.
