CH Potentiometer
« on: January 09, 2010, 09:20:03 AM »
I just noticed on my Fighterstick USB , my upper hat switch is starting to stick.  I took it apart to see if there was anything I could do, and of course there wasn't.  It does not look like a big deal to change it out.

I went to the CH website for spare parts and found what looks to be the only potentiometer that can be used.  It is the HP100, 100k.  Before I order a couple, is this the one that replaces the upper right had hat switch on the joystick?

Thanks

Fred

No - a potentiometer is used for detecting changes in the axys.  The hat switch is just that - a switch that is pushed when you move the hat.

Search for a recent thread that mentions homeboy - he's known for his work with sticks and his skill in modding them and I've seen references to a tutorial he wrote regarding fixing the CH hat switches, unless I misunderstood.

Is there any replacement option for this hat switch as CH won't sell the spare parts? I don't want to have to send it in for repair everytime it goes out.

you can find analog sticks on Ebay pretty cheap. All the switches and pots are the same and can be swapped out pretty easily.

You can call them and tell them you can do the repair yourself if they are willing to send the part out.  They've usually sent out the part in the past for a small fee.
