Actually you guys did an outstanding job. Almost all of VF-17's 110s were able to evade the Yaks you guys engaged and get to the target.
The P-39s and LA-5s over the target pretty much finished us off. Considering the situation we couldn't have asked for a better job by our escorts.
<S>

Thanks Shifty, we tried.  We had 9 G6s and I saw at least 8 Yaks, 10+ P-39s and 6+ LAs.  I managed to stay with you guys as you closed on target, mainly because the Yak on me chased me in that direction..  :rofl

Things got darn crowded after that..

And then they got hilarious.. These three each took a shot at my deadstick G6 and only managed a couple MG hits.

I managed to get it down but one of the heros of the Soviet Union stole someone's kill.  Of course one of the P-39 managed to collide with my deadstick G6 and auger himself so it evens out.

The Fw190F-8 was just outclassed by the P-39.

My sympathies on your demise (poor Focke Wulfs! Such a waste!), but the Fw190F-8 isn't that outclassed by the P-39Q.

Airacobra will out turn it 365 days of the year, and can dive superbly, but the FW is faster than it in all alts outside of  8-12k, where it's a tie, and has 2x the WEP. Any dogfighting would be a no-no, for sure, but you should still be able to disengage. Climb rates are fairly close, as well, especially if the P-39s have gondolas (which most screenshots I've seen with FSOs, they tend to be the majority).

I know, doesn't change the results, jus' sayin'!

Really, any German iron in this setup needs to stay fast and loose against the P-39s because they roll and turn too well. Keep above them and don't get too close.
Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

Demise? Nope.  This thread was started to thank those same 'wasted focke wulfs' for being there to help out late frame, so no...no demise.  And the discussion turned toward the inablilty of the 190 to race downhill w/ the 39 toward the bombers.

Nice snip though and, you being you...I give ya 6.1 krusty's.

Really, thanks guys for the experten advise.  Let me see if I got it now.

1. Don't dive.
2. Don't turn.
3. Don't dogfight.
4. Stay above
- while escorting JU88/s w/ a 20k downdraft.
5. Don't get close

No worries then, Thanks!
