e-cigarette
« on: January 09, 2010, 07:53:54 PM »
I just put in my order for a free trial of e-cigarette, for those of you who don't know what it is its an electronic cigarette that gives you a nicotine hit without actually smoking, I was wondering if any of you have tried it and did it help to actually kick the habit.
No thank you Turkish, I'm sweet enough.

Not sure e-cigarettes are supposed to help you quit, I think it's mainly so you don't have the smell, and you can smoke them in public places.

You know what did it for me?

I fell 25ft while working and shattered my right leg just below the hip.  I was in the hospital for two weeks and then in a hospital bed in my living room for another two months...

It was cold turkey, but I had other things on my mind and some pretty serious pain killers too!

Good luck with it!  I can honestly say that I feel much better on a daily basis then I did when I was smoking about a pack a day.  That, and with the current cost of a pack, you stand to save some really serious money by quitting.

I've heard good things about the drug Chantix from other people, you might look into it.

My brother's friend Joe tried it. Only thing he ever said about it was

"It tasted like a** and it only made me want to buy a pack even more."

All I can really tell ya.

I'm not at all in favor of the e-cig, they don't really help train you to get over the addiction. Not to nicotine but to the physical act of putting a cigarette to your lips.

I'd rather see someone chew the gum. Break the habit of ritualistically holding a cigarette and getting off the nicotine will be that much easier.

You are but you can start out at a high nic (like if you smoke a pack a day)and work your way down to a low nicotine where you don't crave the nicotine ..I tyred the gum and still wanted to smoke ..Good thing about them is you and your home will not smell like a ashtray .

First you truly have to "Want" to quit, not be pushed into it, you have to WANT it for whatever reason.

Once that is settled, taper off, get down to about 1/3 pack a day and its doable.
There are aids that may help to varying degrees. But the deciding factor is going to be your willpower.

Accept it, look it square in the eye, and ask it. Whos the boss, you or the monkey on your back?

Then do what you have to do, or not.

Truer words have never been spoken;

I wish that my uncle could hear that, and get off it so that he wouldn't smoke anymore  :cry
