Transfer Game settings to new computer

2002 Dell 8400 w/XP tweeked... to a new Gamer Extreme i7 core coming the 12th and I want to move stick sets and what ever I can to the new system.  Any advice on what I want to transfer and what the new settings should be set at?  I havn't had to reload the game since 2003.

I concerned with windows 7 and problems with VOX.

New system

Just make a backup of the "settings" folder in the Aces High folder.

Also might wanna backup skins and sounds.

I copied my settings folder and sounds folder to a cd.  installed win7 with all updates then d/l ah again (cant copy the game itself) and replaced the settings folder and sounds folder.  I did had to delete both joystick files, for some reason my stick wouldnt work right, but at least my views, sound levels, etc were good.  I dont really use any skins, except for the pink spit, but you can copy those too from your current game.

for vox go into the control panel and click on speech recognition then set up microphone.  and follow the instructions.  make sure you plug in mike first.  sounds in win7 are way nicer than with xp.

Just as a sidenote there's nothing 'extreme' about HD4670 it's a midlevel card that will be a huge bottleneck in your system. Did you choose the card yourself as a moneysaver or was it included in the package?

Package deal on the card.  I wish I knew what the quaility of cards were with all the numbers: I thought the 4670 was about the same as a GTX260.  Both are way better than my x1300.

I wouldn't call it a "huge bottleneck"...it won't perform like you're expecting though. You will get "adequate" performance for most games...AH will probably be a drag on it especially if you try to turn on all the eye candy...depending on the brand they put in that system the memory could be as low as 800mhz or as fast as 1700mhz...my bet is on the slower end...but with at least 320 stream processors...it could do better than expected.

Any chance you can find out which brand they used? It's probably an oem version of some budget card manufacturer.

Well I wouldn't pair an i7 with a lower medium level graphics card which the 4670 is. It's comparable to Nvidia GT240.. or generation wise comparable HD 3850 which is a medium level ATI card two generations ago. T w o   g e n e r a t i o n s. So yes that paired to an i7 makes in my eyes a huge bottleneck.

Feel free to disagree this is my opinnion.

The 260's rival in the ATI world is the HD5770, or what it's matched to the best.

What you may want to do in the future is sell the card that came with it and grab a 5770.

Fli save your film and sound folders if you have anything in those that you wish to keep........

Default for AH is now C:\Hitech Creations.
I think after Skuzzy had to deal with Vista complaints so long he got fed up and they changed it...he only has so much hair.

Man, thanks for the info!  Yes your right the V-card is the weak point and I'll be loading a 5770 this spring I think.  This is still night and day above what I was using.  If I save the films will they be in a quality I recorded them or what I'm viewing at.  ie.  does it record at a super high quality and only utilize what my V-card can play?  I've got lots of time to make better recordings.

When I save folders from my old system and transfer to the new system do I then delete the the basic folder just downloaded from AH2?

Yes, its now saved on the C-drive.

I replaced the original folders.  Anything goes wrong remove the replacement folder and when u run ah it will create new folders
