question about the arenas
« on: January 14, 2010, 11:09:47 AM »
Hey guys i have a quick question that involves the arena caps. Why does it seem that the arenas (LW) usually orange is always full? Why do they put such a low cap on the arena, but when you irritate the system (multiple times trying to enter a full arena) it finally lets you in? Why not just make the cap like 350 or 400 all the time? Was trying to get into orange last night because all of my friends/squaddies where in there but it wouldn't let me in. I got extremely frustrated and ended up in the blue.

This has been covered many times..... search the boards.

If you don't find your answer regarding game setup then call the main offices. They know the why and what for of the game setup.  <S>

Hey guys i have a quick question that involves the arena caps.

This has never been, nor ever will be ... a quick question.

As Shuff suggested ... do a search on "arena cap" ... that should keep you busy for a few days.

What would be great is if HiTech would consider a screen on startup, possibly on the arena selection screen, that gave a breakdown on the number of players per country currently logged in. I often find myself getting in and out of arena's because of eny only to find the other arena is now capped. Of course I can wait and relog for another opportunity but wouldn't it be nice to be able to forgo all that?

Ah yes, the usual "HTC are always right, got to hell" answer.

It is massively frustrating. Particularly if you live in GMT +13 and you have to be super organised to attend a squad night and you spend 4 hours watching an arena that is 1 or 2 over the arena cap and never get to the point where you can join. I've heard all the rationales behind arena caps over and over and they still make no sense, nor does the "Your whole squad should move to the other arena!" standard answer.

I like to fly with my squad. Given that they haven't thrown me out yet I'm presumably still welcome. I don't fly all that often and when I do I prefer to hook up with squaddies, not fly in another arena for a different country which effectively precludes me hooking up with them the next day.

Yes, I am aware that my opinion is invalid and that my individual value as a customer is negligible in the scheme of things, but, it's still incredibly frustrating to be forced out of spending time with guys who've become friends over the years because of an arbitrary game policy that may or may not be governed by game play or technical game issues.

If they are your friends, they will switch arenas and/or countries accordingly to fly with you.  If they don't, then maybe country or arena is more important to them than you are.  You can all fly together if you are willing to.

Quit being such a baby.  :lol

As others have suggested, try using the search feature. This topic has been discussed ad nauseum. The summary is while the current arena cap system is far from perfect, its better than the alternatives of having one huge arena or having multiple arenas with no caps, or any of the other alternatives suggested.

I'm sure that after you spend a few days reading all the previous discussions and really understand the problem, and the problems all the alternatives create, and THEN come up with a good idea to make things better, HTC staff would love to hear from you. Until then, do what the rest of us do and just deal with it.  ;)

We fly together in BLUE, all day, everyday.  If the map is better in Orange, we'll try and migrate over.... As a squad.

Lynchmob used to fly BLUE too....... But I guess they got tired of all the deaths they encountered after switching sides.    :D

Stop being such a tool.  He has legitimate points and clearly the current system is less than ideal for anyone trying work in a squad.

If you'd quit halucinating and read what is actually written it might help.

I would also like to add that if you only have friends in Orange and only on one side..... your missing out on a lot of the game. There are a lot of good folks spread around here.

When ever this question about caps comes up thats the question that the crybabies never seem to answer..... "If the caps are hard set to 400 what do you do if your number 401 logging in?"

My guess is come and cry on the boards some more  :neener:

They should switch into blue so you can fly together.  That's only common courtesy.
