If u dont want to use Wulfes tactic, which btw is very true when u encounter anothr late war bird at same E or even with higher E, u must fly the D9 in B&Z.
From my point of view its the worst 1on1 late war bird in AH, but when u use it as B&Z plane and rely on speed and climb for attack and defense u can really score with it. U only have to be patient and for sure dont get greedy at all cause thats most often what kills u in the end.

1 - Never HO, very poor weapon set.
2 - Keep fast.
3 - Do no get into turn fight, unless the other is a 190 or, sometimes, P51 and 109G10.
4 - B&Z
5 - Use the vertical, but with care.
6 - Scissors and acceleration, the best way to flee.
7 - Keep in mind that G10 will be faster than you at altitude, and La7 will be faster on the deck.
8 - Try to use AFT fuel tank first.
9 - Cut WEP and some power when trying to reverse quick.
10 - Always be gentle with the stick, let the dweeds make their sticks to puke.

It is difficult indeed.
I must say that i am not realy that good with this baby.
Keep up speed, yeah!
When going into turning fight, turn twice at the most, then disengage and go around for another run.
When i face a better turning opponent, let's say a N1K, you can try high or low jojo. Low jojo may be better, it keeps your energy better.
I have to add, that when you do this, it is better to be at some distance 800 meters or so.
When i am closer than this, the turn will still be too tight for you to turn the dora

Anyway, keeping your E is always good, remember that a dora is faster than a N1K.

Hope this helps,

JG5FaBi.
