I want a really good epic movie to come out like gladiator, saving private ryan etc..only problem is they only seem to come out every now and then

If they came out all the time, they wouldn't be as good.  They would just become average and other ones would stand out and you'd be wanting all of those movies all the time.  :D

Well if they came out all the time then they would become boring.

Edit: Just saw Jayhawk beat me to it.  :D

Good movie...great inside view of the "war junkie" that a good number of vets turn into...some of the actions taken by the lead character were not in character with that personality type...not Oscar material...but I'll probably end up buying it on DVD if anyone has a copy on half.com.

I am glad to see a female win for best director. She beat the boys at their own game. It is Oscar material from what they had to pick from. Maybe i'm too old school, but movies the last several years have been lasking substance imo.

Compare The Hurt Locker with Apocalyse Now.  I think we all can agree that ApoNow is 10 times the epic movie Hurt Locker is. Yet Apocalypse only received 2 Oscars i believe.

Kathryn Bigelow (Director: The Hurt Locker) is also the ex-wife of James Cameron (Director: Avatar)

The world gets small sometimes.  If what I heard/read somewhere was correct it was in fact Cameron that first turned Bigelow onto the movie after he read the script.  Good for him and for her.

Kathryn Bigelow has made some really good movies, and the movies that she's made you wouldn't think that a woman had made them, not only the Hurt Locker, but Point Break, & K-19 The Widowmaker.

Come to think of it... The Road was a better movie in my opinion, and surely Oscar material.

Yeah The Road was a good movie too, I liked The Hurt Locker better myself, thats the thing with movies their very subjective, it comes down to individual preferences.
