Air Recon/Spotting
« on: December 13, 2000, 04:41:00 PM »
Would a spotting AC type be any fun?  Maybe a Fieseler 156 would.  Minimum speed 32mph. It would have a high "tauntability" factor.
Fighter pilot whizzes past ,over shoots and misses badly: Fieseler pilot says:'Hey buddy want me to hover for ya'. With the difficulty in sighting large guns spotting would be helpful and I suppose one could use most of the AC already in place that have good visability but an AC intended for spotting/recon would add diversity.

Spotting AC would be very useful, in the next patch with the addition of the Naval bombardment.I hope that we will be able to launch sea planes from the Cruiser to use in this role but I imagine with the radio system we have in place that just about any plane would do.

I think any slow spotting plane would be an easy target, because in AH the ground is uncluttered. In RL they could fly behind trees, hedges, houses or anything else to avoid faster a/c attacking them.

That, said - the Storch is just too cool not to have it.

Not only spotting but rescue plane. Hey, they could even take off and land on ships. A small platform, put the ship against the wind, some 25kts., and there you have a hoovering storch

Bring the storch, pls.

Yeah ! that would be fun ! , only prob is that you'll probably never make it anywhere in the crate .  Nice to have if you have FULL air superiority , but just another coffin for AH otherwise.  Gimme a K sat. instead !

I think the Lysander would be better suited to the role at least it could carry bombs or have machine guns in the wheel spats.
