Question is, how much stock can USC fans put in Kiffin? I mean this guy like 12-27 as a head coach, granted both teams he coached needed major help. But now he's going to a team, that can pretty much win with ANY coach because of the quality of recruits. So if USC finishes the same or better than Carroll's last season, is it because of Kiffin, or just because of the program over all?

Not saying he's a bad choice, like pointed out before, he knows SC. He was the recruit coordinator during what ESPN called Carroll's "Golden Years". He's bringing his dad with him which definitely is a good thing, and to be honest the guy does know the game pretty well.

Just kind of scary that this guy hasn't done anything as a head coach, and yet he just landed probably the most sought out and desired coaching gig in college football.

As for the "media diversion", I can't see USC even being worried about anything happening next month. If they were; why would they bring in a guy who just had a horrible year for almost the exact same thing that they being investigated for?

Well at this point it'll still get put on Carroll, especially with him now being gone. It will all fit too well not to blame Carroll. Only thing is will the AD get hit with it too, and if so, how hard?

Anyway, given that, I would have never thought that Fulmer would have condoned anything untoward--he always seemed above that.

Fulmer was the biggest scumbag in the SEC. He also interfered with police investigations of his players. Then when someone would try to sneak something past the NCAA he would be the first one to cry. :rofl

Like I said, there is a civil war brewing in the Land of Troy.  Sadly, the wrong person left USC but the way he was left out to dry by Garrett, I can understand why Carroll decided to leave.  Unfortunately, because USC was popped a few years ago for not having any minorities in high positions at the university, Garrett's job is pretty much safe.

I think Garrett will be fired over this apparent lack of institutional control issue that the NCAA is going nuts about @ USC. Just my opinion from reading all the allegations over OJ Mayo and Reggie Bush/Joe McKnight incidents.

In regards to Joe McKnight; there was a huge amount of speculation/inuendo/rumor going around the various SEC coaches (who I happen to know several position coaches at different schools) about how McKnight got out of Louisiana. It just so happened that he played at Evangel Christian Academy in Shreveport, LA where another USC player (John David Booty) went to school for a few games. During his time there it has been speculated that the initial contact with USC boosters was made.

Anyway I know that the vast majority of super star players get approached and even payed without many head coaches knowledge of it happening. However it happens and it happens at all levels of NCAA football from D3 to D1.

I think Garrett will be fine since Carroll left. With Carroll leaving, Garrett can basically claim innocence and quite possibly get away with it. But you're right, ALL schools do it, it's only certain ones who get caught

Yep, Garrett will be able to continue to twist the knife in Carroll's back by claiming innonence and declaring the culprit has left the building.

And with Kiffin's past, he already has the next fall guy. Isn't it grand?
