Battle of Frace Ardennes forrest:
« on: January 17, 2010, 09:22:44 AM »
May 10 1940 to June 22 1940

Geman aircraft: Bf-109E-4, Ju-87D-3, Ju-88A-4, SDKFZ-251, Panzer Mk IV
Allied aircraft: Hurricane Mk I, Hurricane MkIIC, Spitfire Mk I, Boston MkIII, M8(pretend its a Renault R35) M-3

We could use the Ardennes map. As in my other post i dont know when we last used the map or setup.

If you are going to use the '43 PanzerIV(H) as a substitute for the available PzkwIIIs and IV(C)'s, you might as well use the T-34/76 as a sub for the French tanks.  Just tell the allies to limit them to second gear to make up for the speed differential.   :D

Oh, you absolutely can -- the problem is that it isn't indicative of the match up in capabilities.  The French tanks of the day were, in general, slower than their German counterparts, and often better armored and armed.  The M8 vs. Panzer turns that scenario on its head.

You say to pretend the M8 is an R35.  The R35 had a top road speed of about 13mph.  The M-8 does 50.  The R35 also had about three times the armor.  The Panzer III would have a hard time penetrating the front armor on the R35 without closing to within 100 meters.  Same with a IV(C) unless it had HEAT rounds.  This just isn't in the same universe as what you will see when you have a IV(H) vs. an M-8.

It's frustrating not having proper substitutions.  :furious

I do like the idea of subbing the R35 with the T-34/76 - it's a better match than the M8.

The Hurri IIC wasn't finished it run-ups and testing until January 1941 and finally saw it's first active duty in April 1941. Mostly to work out the bugs with the 4 Hispano cannons which had a devistating effect on the He-111.   I would also add the Bf-110C-4 as a sub for the B or early C variant.

Weren't you the guy in the M8 that stalled my panzer attack about 4 maps ago? You pinged me, and ran into the woods, where I chased you only to be outmanuverd, due to the small size of your M8 fitting into the tight spaces and getting in behind me.

All of these setups have been run and are in the rotation. Why not search what has been run in the past and suggest something different?

Yeah, this idiot tried to track me, as if that would keep his M8 safe.

How about the german invasion of france (the whole thing), and see if our guys could do better than rommel?

Hurri IIC in France 1940?  ROFL, what wishful thinking.  Generally people sub the P-40B for the P-36, call it French, and then we play a setup for which we lack half of the interesting aircraft.

FYI, Spitfire didn't really participate in the BoF.
