Colts or Jets?
« on: January 18, 2010, 09:59:09 PM »
Very interesting match-up.

Jets: #1 rated defense in NFL
Jets: #1 rated rushing team in NFL
Jets: #8 rated rushing defense in NFL
Jets: #31 rated passing team in NFL
Jets: #20 rated offensive team in NFL

Colts: #18 rated defense in NFL
Colts; #32 rated rushing team in NFL
Colts: #24 rated in rushing defense in NFL
Colts: #2 rated passing team in NFL
Colts: #9 rated offensive team in NFL

Intangibles:
Huge pressure on Colts.
Jets are not supposed to be in Championship game. No pressure at all.
Colts Very confident.
Jets very confident with huge chip on their shoulder.
Payton Manning.
Mark Sanchez.
Injuries.
Penalties.

Colts will not do as well as Chargers defending against the ground game. Jet offensive line will push Colt defensive line around. Colts have no rushing game, almost total dependence on passing, but they have the one of the best passing games in the league. Jets have best pass defense in league. Colts have great pass rush, however, this may be neutralized by Jets rushing game (linebackers will have to play back more). Sanchez has made very few mistakes over past 5 games. Jets have much better field goal kicker (statistically).

Turnovers prediction: Jets 1, Colts 3.

Final score: Jets 20 Colts 17 on Jay Feely field goal in overtime.

Of course, I could be utterly and completely wrong!

 Jets, Rookie QB

 Colts, Freeney, Mathis both healthy.

Saying Feely is a better kicker than Stover is just well

Feely's stats say otherwise, especially beyond 40 yards. Stover made only 11 attempts all season, most short range. He made 9 of the 11. Feely is one of best "pressure" kickers in the league. Almost never misses on important kicks. Proved to be an okay punter too when he had to step in for Weatherford against the Bengals. Dropped two inside the 20 yard line and one inside the 10. This year, Feely has hit from 53 yards. Stover missed his one attempt at 51 yards.

The Colts have been keeping a lot in reserve to be able to make a strong run in the playoffs, and they have the home dome advantage.  The Jets' freshman QB is due to make some mistakes as well.

Colts 34 - Jets 17

I think the Saints - Vikings matchup is far more intriguing, and should be a much closer game.  Naturally I'm rooting for Drew Brees and the Saints.

Jets.  21-17

Defense and rushing win championships.

Although, playing the game in a dome is a plus for the colts.

Seriously?

Jets will lose by 2 touchdowns. Why? Because the Colts had to give up their perfect season to them. Jets didn't take it away. Colts had to listen on how the "quit" and "gave up".

Oh wait, wrong game.

Umm....as much as I love taking underdogs, I don't think this'll happen. Colts 24-21

If the Jets only score 20-21 points, they lose.  I'll take Peyton and the boys:  37-20.

Hoping the Jets rip those Colts up...  They've got it coming after the sand bagged effort they put up against the Jets earlier this season (that would have out my Texans in the Playoffs!)

Ditka by a late field goal.

As for this game, I'm gonna say Colts take it, 28-17.
