custom skins
« on: January 20, 2010, 05:02:22 PM »
How can custom skins be seen in recordings made of line? is it possible?
I'm only seeing the default skin showing up.
Thanks rave

I haven't tested this recently yet I'm sure if you build the skins into the terrain they should appear in the Film Viewer. Just beware, you'll require the source files of the terrain in order to build anything into that terrain (not the .res files you're using to fly the terrain).

Thank you .
I don't have any knowledge of mission building as of yet... so it looks like I'm out of luck until I learn how to do what your recommending.
Ill go search in the mission builders forum.
 Thanks Again.

Mission building won't do anything for skins. Terrain building will. I'm sure there are other ways to do it, it was the first method that popped into my mind.

Plain answer: "No."

You can do a few things, like swapping another in-game skin for the default skin, and like adding a default skin to your own custom terrain, but the film would have to be recorded on that terrain for that skin to show up, I think, and swapping other skins over the default only works if the default skin is the one that you'd be replacing anyways (if the film already recorded "skin X" is in use instead of default, it won't work).

Neither of these will work after-the-fact with most films. You have to plan in advance.

If you plan ahead, using fraps in-game while offline will allow you to get custom skins in your shots. Depends on your system specs if you can run it too well.
