Go get a fox fur that isn't treated or scent every cat I have seen won't go near it.

We had a situation like this a while ago. My wife likes to rescue cats, and one time she rescued a liter that was abandoned (they were only 3 days old). Long story short we nursed them and they became playful, like chewing on the cords of 2 Razr mice, 2 backup mice, computer surround system, baracuda headphones, etc. etc. After ensuring the kittens safety, she went looking, come to find out hot stuff like chili pepper or such, most of the time doesn't work. Get something bitter. (sometimes that doesn't work but not often) We used lime juice on the surviving equipment and hadn't had a problem since with any litter.

This is only for the cat, but I'm sure it may be modified for your significant other.

1)  Take cat

2)  Put cat in car

3)  Drive at least 450 miles

4)  Remove cat from vehicle

5)  Drive home

Problem solved.

If the trak IR 5 is better than the 4 I had, I will convince myself it was a worthwhile upgrade and let the cat slide on this one.

she actually suggested to me... that I put my PC and stuff IN A CLOSET!!! and lock it up, that way she (her cat) cant get to it..

I said "hoe, this is my apartment, you dont pay the rent here, you dont live here and neither does your cat!"

ok, so I didnt say that, but I thought it..

ok i didnt think it either.. at the time, but I just thought it now..  so.. yea.. :aok

Some catnip rubbed on a live power cord would solve the problem...permanently.

I love cats...they make great speed bumps...tree fertilizer...dog treats...

Cats don't like anything citrus.  Oranges, lime, etc.. just rub the juices of citru fruit on the cords and they will leave it alone.
