My sister has a cat that loves the smell of the chemicals in the plastic... Ate through 3 or 4 of her ipod headphones wires in a row (really ticked her off). All our other cats have never acted that way. One actually liked playing with my phone recharger -- but this is only because he batted at anything that looked like string.

Cats are very individual. Looks like you got the one freak cat that likes chewing wires.
