Does any one know if the yak 3 would be a complete new plane model or can it be done like the p47m?

Yak-3 indeed looks different than a Yak-9, but looks very similar to the 9U (no 'chin' oil cooler).  However, the Yak-3 has slightly better forward visibility, and a smaller airframe.  So there is no doubt that it would require a new 3d model.
