Try deleting your Sounds folder.
Not all of the unofficial, player-made sound packs found on the message boards are compatible with everyone's computers.
Otherwise, having random sound problems myself due to an oold computer, have you tried .resetv ?
It usually works for me. I will sometimes lose engine noise depending on throttle location or gun noise and .resetv will fix it until it cuts out again.
