The LW would need the DO-335 or ME-262 to catch it

Douglas XB-42
410 mph, 8000 lb bombload.
First flight May 1944.
If the war had been lengthened, these things would have been rushed into service.

HI

Cool! By that lengthened time, Luftwaffe would have had Ta183s along with  600mph plus capable Me262, all these puppies armed with X-4s and MG213 20/30mm revolver cannon. Id go for that! BTW such a modifed 262 was found nearly complete at the Messerschmitt factory during spring/summer45 and was to enter production later in the year.
BTW I still think thats a great lookin plane.
Lemme guess the next post has something to do with a certain very large Boeing 4 engined bomber?

thanks GRUNHERZ

Only added this one because I saw it while doing the photo for #17 below.

Late 1945 and 1946 sure might have been an interesting year had Great Britain not stood her ground in 1940, 1941.

Hi

Cmon suave its kinda neat looking plus it had great performance capability, if it saw service(and proved reliable) it be right up there in fame with B25 and B26.
