Michael Schumacher revealed as The Stig!!!!!!!!

Personally I'm a bit surprised they revealed him, considering the last Stig's unveiling...

Does it effect the outcome of any of the lap times, or effect how people view their review of the cars? I don't think so. I don't think there could be a more qualified driver.

anyone's thoughts?

Schumacher isn't the Stig, at least he isn't the only Stig.  There are several drivers that fill the position.  My own personal opinion is that the Schumacher thing was setup so they could get his Ferrari around the track.

He might have been it.   He's out of retirement, so it does make sense if true.

That show would be great if they got rid of the british hosts. I can't stand to listen to them for an entire hour.

Schumacher was the Stig for that episode only, because the Ferrari FXX they took around the track is his personal car, and only he is allowed to drive it.

It was a Gag :aok

Top Gear will never publicly reveal who the Stig is.  The old black Stig (Perry McCarthy) was probably killed off because he outed himself.

I'm excited to see how well Schumi does in the 2010 F1 season.  He's driving for the defending constructors cup champ, and his old pal Ross Brawn, so I'd bet he'll do pretty well.

did anybody see the episode when they drove through Alabama with slogons painted on their cars "MAN LOVE RULES" and "country and western sucks" and "Hilary for President". I seriously nearly chat myself laughing at that one.
No thank you Turkish, I'm sweet enough.

This was last season, Schuey is not the Stig as stated at the end of the show...and Top Gear is only good because of Clarkson, Captain slow and the Hamster

Na it's not Michael Schumacher.  Considering the show has been running nearly 10 years there must have been many Stigs.  Not including Stigs cousins abroad in America and Africa.

Much speculation, by the drinking classes, has been pointed at the former racing driver and part time (top Gear) presenter Tiff Needell.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tiff_Needell

Being a pragmatist I'll say it's a hired driver from one of the many racing schools in the UK.  The reason I state that is because I know the rules of engagement (employment) in the BBC.  You get paid less if you don't speak...hence the Stig being mute.

(A friend of mine worked on a show called "Boon" back in the 80's.  His character was a motorcycle dispatch rider.  He was paid £75 per day + a bonus of £50 for specialist knowledge (could ride a motorcycle) and a further bonus of £75 for supplying a motorcycle (his own Kwak 13).  He only ever had one line "so that's that then" for which his daily pay was £100.)

Personally I can no longer stand the show.  Clarksons and his crew are old hat here in the UK.  Die-hard petrol heads may be regular viewers but I find the humour, after all these years, to be pompous, stale and more contrived than sarcastic.  Clarksons rule of thumb is if it doesn't do 200MPH its crap.

The Stig is a fella called Ben Collins from Bristol, not far from me.  I used to work with a lad who raced in the SEAT Ibiza cup class and met him at a party once, although to this day he still denies publicly that he's The Stig.  Probably because the old Stig (Perry McCarthy as Saggs said) was fired for stating clearly in his autobiography that he was The Stig.

Michael Shumacher is, most definately, not The Stig.  They just managed to get him on the show and thought it'd be funny (and, of course, give lots of stupid people reason to say "but they said he was!!!").

OT

here is the vid about the "killing off" the black Stig when it was shown driving a modified Jaguar XJ-S off the flight deck of HMS Invincible during a stunt and landing in the sea.

After that they introduced the white Stig.

Outside of the Vietnam Special, that Episode is my favorite.   The gas station manager rounding up the posse in the back of the pick up truck was aces.    :rofl :rofl :rofl
