« on: January 25, 2010, 11:35:38 PM »
If HiTech gave us the WWI Arena tomorrow, what do you hope it will be?

Had to have been there. 999000 remembers. It's that long lost way things were done that so many Old timers lament AH has lost. It's probably because more players back then were like 999000 is today in AH. He is the same now as he acted in AW. Imagine flying with an arena full of players like 999000 here in AH. AH culture now is a bit coarser than AW culture back then. We are a bit more petty about small things than most players were back then in AW. I guess we all grew up and moved to Hollywood and became AH Hero's.

the best guys in Doa used to hide in the clouds and wait for a furball then in. It was so much fun, I am really looking forward to it. Letting smokers and flamers land was standard proceedure. It was a gentlemans fight.

You're living in an era gone by while wearing rose tinted glasses if you actually think "AH culture" is a bit coarser than "AW culture" back when it was still around.  Having been in the AW community since '93, there is no difference between communities and the AW community was just as coarse as the current AH community.  I would even venture that there were more drama queens back in AW.

Maybe it was the company I kept and a disintrest in the console text or the forum back then.

It wasent till the last years 97-99 that it got like AH today. Before then I remember a lotta fun players like 999000 and silly things like BM's 6 year old daughter hopping in the seat when he took a potty break and shooting down all of us spawning on the runway in front of his flackpanzy. Lots of big furballs and an Alander super hot stick named deadf who always beat me in whatever he was flying. I remember a crack program for the Dos version that would let you open the cockpit mask files and create your own cockpit. It wouldnt let you create a total glass nose because you had to conform to the templates mask area. I always thought the littel orange red cones used as the engine flame graphic for the 262 were hoaky. I could never keep the guns on another plane long enough to get a kill in the AW WWI arena because the biplanes were so squirrely. It was harder than flying FR in WW2 planes for me.

Simplicity is probably what I'm looking for.

James I know my squad the 332nd Flying Mongrels is planning on having an active presence there.

Considering the arena makeup, and WWI, and the total lack of anything to shoot at other than other biplanes.
I certainly hope score is disabled.

I guess I would like to see the old old system brought back that reported a kill when it happened.

Lol.  It won't be for me.  Vulching smokers and flamers will be one of those special treats.  Like find a 5$ in the seat cushions of your couch, or that last forgotten beer in the back of the fridge when you thought you were out. And if they complain, that will just be sauce for the goose.   :D

You could call AcesHigh AirWarrior for all intents and purposes.  Although I know HTC and the bank were happy to see AW die off and the mass exodus into AH take place, I saw that exodus happen with a rather profound sense of loss to the then AH community we had back in the first two years.  That was a different group of people.  Definately the afficianados of the genre (by and large), and even though the game was far less developed then than it is now, it was simply a more enjoyable entity before the masses arrived.  I guess you could drop that template over just about anything and have it work.

I look EVERY MORNING to see if the WW1 arena has arrived.  Soon I hope.
