Character is like a tree and reputation like its shadow. The shadow is what we think of it; the tree is the real thing.

My wife ,sons and I had the pleasure of meeting Mr.Archer and four other Airmen at their book sighning held at the Historical Air Museum in Northern Virginia last summer. They gave a lecture , Q and A session , autographs and pictures. They also gave my son a copy of their flight training manual and autobiography. I looked like a dang deer in headlights when I saw them. I had so many questions to ask but the first one that came out of my mouth was "have you ever heard of aces high"  :aok  , and how about logging on with us sometime ? They laughed and took down the website and basically gave me the been there done that which I could totally understand.

They were very humble and personable and made themselves available for any reqeusts the crowd had. I  :salute those gentlemen for having the courage and gumption to basically stand up and fight to defend a nation that would have rather saw them HANG and then to eventually change the hearts and minds of an entire nation  :rock !!! Thank you from the bottom of my heart and for your sacrifice and contribution we  :salute you !!

I didn't get to meet him personally but last year I was privileged to sit on beside one of these men who did the unthinkable at the time and we had a great conversation. One time during the 2 hours we talked about WW2 and his experience. The rest of the time we talked about our families and what his life had been like AFTER being a Tuskegee Airman. It was a very humbling experience to get to spend that time with the man talking about life and it is something that I will never forget.
