Because it wasn't a HO. He never pointed his nose at me let alone got a gun solution.

See this is the part you guys have never understood.

He didnt point his nose because he was trying to merge - not HO.  You take that as an opportunity to HO him. End of story.

Do people do it - yes all the time - do I care when someone does it  - no  idgaf , because normally they miss and I get angles on them. People will now argue back and forth , oh its a front quarter deflection shot , its a valid tactic used by yeager , hartmann did it all the time , the flying tigers do it , its part of the game get over it lol. Thats all fine.

It's still a HO   ;)

That first shot was a HO......just saying :bolt:

you ho'd him on the merge - why did you post the film ?

Well as someone who has been dealt many a HO  :furious , I'm just not seeing it here  :huh .   I have always been lead to believe that a HO, is nose to nose, otherwise it is just a angle deflection shot.   In the film posted, they were not nose to nose.  Maybe for a brief second, several seconds before the A20 opened fire, but that's it.

We have read all to often about HO's in these forums, and the consensus always seems to be in the end if, guns are blazing on a nose to nose first merge it's a HO!  Anything else it's just a deflection shot.  Seems to be the opinion of most, if not all in my squad and some of them have been around a day or two  :old:

So to avoid a front angle deflection shot the answer is for both pilots to ram each other?

Yea why not   :x   No seriously, I read all the time here that the HO is completely avoidable,  do I believe that?  NO!  The film proves it to a degree.  Yet the majority, tell poorly skilled guys such as myself, that it is a fact.  So it begs the question, did both pilots make poor decisions, or just one of them?  Did one make a good decision?  Did one take advantage, if so, which one, and would you have taken it as well?

I have flown with and against, both Strip and Larry.  They are obviously MUCH better than myself, and are VERY good marksmen. Knowing that fact alone about them, honestly, against either one of them, I would have took the shot, I would have missed, but I would have took it, and I NEVER HO unless provoked!

Just saying            :salute

My only mistake was assuming Larry wouldn't take a HO/face shot, which given who I am dealing with and the plane was a grave misjudgment.

My bad for assuming those with the skills to survive after a merge would choose to fight it out over a cheap shot.

An understandable assumption, but we all know there are many who fly that way all the time.

It was what I like to call, a "Hot merge".....very weak on Larry's part IMO but he was in an A20 which is like the IL2 dweebs so it makes it not that dweeby. Still could have been HO if Strip didnt show some class with his flying there :aok
