See this is the part you guys have never understood.

He didnt point his nose because he was trying to merge - not HO.  You take that as an opportunity to HO him. End of story.

Do people do it - yes all the time - do I care when someone does it  - no  idgaf , because normally they miss and I get angles on them. People will now argue back and forth , oh its a front quarter deflection shot , its a valid tactic used by yeager , hartmann did it all the time , the flying tigers do it , its part of the game get over it lol. Thats all fine.

Regardless of what the "intentions" where the A20 followed through with his attack and shot down into the P51.

No head on shot there.

The p51 intended to go vertical but decided to change course at the wrong time.

Either commit or make a move to evade earlier.

Just what the film shows

From Larry's cockpit it looked like Larry fired down and in front of Strip in a leading shot as Strip passed under him roughly inline.

From Strip's cockpit it looked like a face shot from a higher diving con. <---Lots of HO whizzing matches on ch200 and this forum result from this situation.

So each player saw something different and responded as such in the conversation. Each player is correct from thier personal cockpit perspective. I loose my rudder from taters to Larry's type of shot all the time by pointing my nose down to evade under the nose of a higher con diving at me from the front. I'm sure Strip would have thought nothing of it if Larry were diving down at 90 degrees from his 3 O'clock and made the same lead shot.

What is wrong with placing rounds in the path of another plane so it will fly into them if the shooter is higher in front flying down at it on the same beam line?
