I have had a hard time fallin asleep for years.

I started taking 2 Tylenol simply sleep tablets, and they worked a little too well for me.

Soooooo anyways, I'm now taking 1/2 of one tablet before bed at night, works like a charm.

At this point I think its more of a placebo effect than anything.

But it works.

I mostly suffer from small child induced insomnia. Got a dose last night, couldn't get back to sleep then thinking about 'things'. My current lack of income, future prospects and how I'm going to put the little brats through college on a state pension because I'll be A. That old by the time they leave school and B. That will be my only income.

There's only one cure for that kind of insomnia and that's to get rich fast. :headscratch:

Try to become a possitive tomorrow person not a reflective today person. Thinking about possitive things you will be doing in the near future will provide you a motive to get to sleep. Pondering over what happened yesterday or today is a sure way to stay awake. Simple mind games you can play on yourself without realising it.

I"ve had trouble sleeping off and on in recent years, mine was usually tied up in some sort of work related worry or anxiety.  For some reason my mind has a knack for suddenly remembering something I forgot to do the previous day at 3:00am.

What helped me was I go about some sort of relaxing, daily routine in my head but I would force myself to think about every little detail that happened along the way, the more minute the better.  That kept my mind occupied and would usually help me go back to sleep.

I'm having troubles sleeping too. I've been studying for the CPA exam and it won't leave me alone.

Try drinking water a few hours before bedtime if you have much caffeine intake. I'm not a doctor but that does seem to help.

Wow, I hate to chime in but had to add my 2 cents....
Some people are saying stuff about coffee..  Just to add a little bit...
I can take caffeine 4-10 hours for you to completely metabolize..
Depends on your metabolism..  Cutting back on coffee early in the day,
like before 11am. is probably a good idea..  It'll suck..  You'll have caffeine
headaches..  After a few days, your body will become accustomed to less caffeine
and eventually more sleep....

Now, if that doesn't work, taking a drink doesn't help either..  Alcohol will actually
wake you up end at the tail end of your "buzz"..  And you'll likely have a headache also..
Ever try falling back asleep on a hangover?  Don't know about you, but it's never worked for me..

The biggest problem in sleep problems is coffee and/or stimulant intake during the day..  This is the
#1 reason..  You may not even feel the effects, but they linger on..  Melatonin works to a degree..
After an extended period of time, it becomes ineffective and taking more doesn't help..
After all else has failed, and before you go to your doc so he can prescribe you Ambien(which you
want to avoid at all costs as it is addictive even when taken regularly and the withdrawals are worse than withdrawing from morphine),
you will want to try this stuff.......  ------------->>http://www.gnc.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2133459&CAWELAID=293850610
It's called GABA..  It will knock you the $%#& out....  My buddy's hippie wife recommended the stuff
and I never believed her until she actually got me a bottle for Christmas..  Tried the stuff the first night..  Took it at 10..  Went to bed at 11..
And don't remember much else after that..  I didn't feel drugged in the morning..  I felt normal and unhappy to wake up like everyone else, but
I got some good sleep and I could tell the difference throughout the entire day..
I like classy, beautiful, intelligent woman that say the "F" word a lot....
