Much more simple!

The Track IR Software got as default the F9 to reset the view to the middle Pos and the software can map F9 onto a joystick button!
So here is the Solution, open the Profile you use, remap the F9 key onto a Botton, thats how i fly in AH2 since 2 years. there is nothing better than using track IR
In a WW! plane you have to shoot at 80- 100

That's the way I have it too. But with my system, there is often a 1-3 seconds delay in a crowded furball until the TIR is actually recentered. Not good if you're about to shoot ;)
(I did up the D3A several times last tour in anticipation of the WWI arena to practice exactly this)

hehe i know that problem, and i solved it. i use a win7 64 bit system, and gave a high prio to the Track IR software (realtime)  :)

I just played around with it in a D3A, I programmed my pinky switch on the X52 to look forward.  It seems to work fine.

When I first got my trakir I tried holding the straight ahead view to shoot and it threw me off so much that I learned to hit my target with the motion on. For awhile I flew without a gun site at all. You get where you know where the rounds will hit.
Now I fly with the motion on tracers on, and just a small dim dot site. One problem with this method is that if I don't fly much my gunnery suffers badly. It seems like I have to re-learn how to hit a moving target.

Oh yes there is :D  .... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ITQ9HFiRY_0

Can't you guys created a 'deadzone', I have a script in glovepie that creates a 10 degree dead zone when looking ahead.

i have my trakir set speed at 1, smooth at 40.  it will stay fixed on the gunsight unless i move my had more than a couple of degrees at a time.  I can move my head  a little and the view wont change.

I figure since they used 6DOF in real life, how hard could it be virtually?

just wondering how much does trackIR (not the BEST program version just one that gets by)
go for? (as in cost)

and as a player who cant hit the broadside of a barn from 400 if its flying through the air and turning would the cost be a waste?

not try to hijack just wondering

It won't make any difference to your gunnery.  Well, it'll make it worse for about a month until you get adjusted to being able to move your head to look around.  After you adjust though, your gunnery will to back to where it was before.  It's vastly superior to hat switch views and feels much more natural to look around to track the bad guys.  I don't remember exactly how much it costs, in the 140 dollar range I think.  Check the Naturalpoint website for pricing.  You may be able to get one cheaper off ebay though.

"how will we aim?"

By getting about 50 ft at most off your enemies tail and keeping the front of your plane pointed
right at them.

(Image removed from quote.)

You don't have the luxury of spraying ammo from 800 out.

Beautiful painting of Flashnar's DVa...

I'm yet to see a WW1 sim where it isn't easy to land shots from 200m and more.
