Keep a steady head.  :D

I actually use my hat switch (which is still programmed for my views) to "lock" my forward view if I need to steady my head for more accuracy.  It will override my TIR movement while the hat is pressed.

You'll aim by using a handy reference point to line up your head with the sight. Look at the cockpit screenshots. You'll see some obvious choices.

"how will we aim?"

By getting about 50 ft at most off your enemies tail and keeping the front of your plane pointed
right at them.

You don't have the luxury of spraying ammo from 800 out.

Practice in the D3a1 "Val" it doesn't have a reflector sight.

Also, consider locking the mouse pointer with the tip on the center of the X.

Then you can move your head anywhere, knowing where the bullets will go.

Unless I misunderstand you completely...

You can't use mouse pointer as an aiming aid with 6DOF TrackIr, because it's not moving relatively, like a reflector gunsight dot does.

Just fly in front of a con. When you lose your tail you can re-enact the death blossom scene in The Last Starfighter.

Set your x, y, z and roll axis to dead band just a little and tune
to how you like it. Also, set a center button on the throttle or stick
to center the view a bit before firing. Hope this helps.

A20s and IL2s have a sight like that too. So if the D3A is too hard for you in the MA (or TA...maybe :noid) then they might be a good start for Track IR gunnery practice until WWI update comes out.  :joystick:

Until then, we... wai... can't wait!  :x

Didn't a lot of the planes have a ring and bead sight on the guns themselves or am I way off base here?  I don't know much about the WW1 stuff at all, so I could very easily be wrong as hell.

Question, if you lock the mouse in forward view, then change view with trackir. Does the mouse move?

Or does it stay locked in the center of the forward screen?

I don't have trackIR so I have no idea.

It stays locked in the center of the screen.

Example:

Mouse pointer locked in center of screen, on gunsight

Now I moved my head a little bit. Mouse pointer is still in the physical center of my screen (it may not look like it here, but I cropped the picture), but not aligned with the gunsight anymore.
