Wooley does it on his own
« on: February 03, 2010, 08:04:27 PM »
So those of you following my attempts to get my PPL will know that for a long and boring list of reasons, this has been along time coming, but today, finally, I solo'd for the first time.

Four times round the circuit, nothing and no-one broken and no shattered egos to report. Hurrah.  :D

Round here, they mean it when they say 'Caution wake turbulence'.

Congrats. You'll remember that day forever. Now buckle down and get the rest done.

Congrats  :aok

Just out of curiosity; at which airport do you find a diamond, it's kind of hard to find one that you can rent.

Wtg man, so is that your own plane, or did you just want to get your PPL?

I fly out of John Wayne Airport, Orange County (KSNA). The school is Sunrise Aviation. They have two DA-20's and two DA-40's amongst a bunch of other things. They'll rent to anyone who completes a check-flight with them.

And trax1 - I can only wish it was mine. I'm renting from the flight school. We'll see about buying after I complete training and have a more respectible number of hours under my belt.

Looks like a nice place to fly at, how much do they charge for the DA20 an hour? I pay $130 wet for my diamond.

It's $118 wet out for the DA-20 Eclipse.  $123 for the G1000 DA-40

Congrats on the solo Wooley!  Just make sure you keep your nose to the grindstone and keep learning.  A large percentage of people never push past the solo stage to get their PPL.
