Input on X65 and G940
« on: February 06, 2010, 12:15:29 PM »
I have noticed there is a couple of new kids on the block in the flight controller field. My first question is that does anyone have one,and I'm not sure the X65 is even out yet?I hope Skuzzy will give me a heads up on if they will do well in AH?I would hate to fork over a lotta bones for something that is new,and I'm sitting fine with My CH Fighterstick, pedals ,and throttle. The no moving parts stick is a wonderful idea, but I've only wore out one stick from CH since the early 90's.That doesn't include the analog to usb upgrades.Shows you how well CH builds them!I'm sure CH isn't sitting on there hands while Saitek and Logitech getting the edge, and I know CH will be more costly.Anyway, someone throw out a couple of thoughts on this situation.I will be researching as I wait for someones help.

I personally wouldn't drop the money on the Saitek offering simply because it is a non-moving force sensing stick. Not my cup of tea there at all.

As for the G940 I think a few people have them and so far from what I have read in several different forums they are a mixed bag of whether or not they are any good. Its an awful lot of money to spend just to find out if you like it.

Reading the G940 forums, a lot of users are having issues with unfixable spikes in the throttle and rudders and BSOD issues when programming certain button combinations in the profiling software.  Users have been waiting for a bit for a firmware update that will fix some of the issues like the lack of center in non-FFB and older FFB games.  It also seems that Logitech support is quick to blame the developer for some of the issues with the G940 by saying the G940 is so advanced that older and most current games need to have additional support for the G940 in order for it to work at optimal conditions.

This is why I love my CH setup, the input is so sensitive and precise! Zero mechanical deadband!

Got an x65. It takes getting used to, it is pretty comfortable though. The whole thing is metal. Not just the base or the internal parts. I'm trying to find the right intensity of feedback, but it's only been a few hours of use and I don't miss my other sticks at all.

Hardwarewise the G940 is top notch. Very good quality and tons of dials, buttons and axes. But the profiler is a shame - very limited functionality - mentioned BSOD with certain shift combination and cumbersome programing. Coming from the TM Foxy software this is TEH HORROR. Still I do not regret getting a G940.
